Many parents seek to clarify the differences between the PTA and Foundation and why two separate organizations are required. Foundation and PTA share a common goal – the betterment of our children's education.

Foundation and PTA are governed differently with respect to how they raise and spend money. PTA, as a national organization, is bound by strict by-laws which dictate how fundraising is achieved and how funds are implemented into programs. Foundation, on the other hand, operates as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and can pursue as much fundraising as is necessary to achieve its stated goals. This means we can operate with greater discretion over monies raised and are not subject to state-mandated processes. Funding decisions are guided by the Foundation Board, which will be made up of volunteer parents, teachers, staff and community stakeholders who dedicate their time to raise funds to enrich your child's education.   Input from teachers and school administration is also factored. Unlike the PTA, there are no fees or dues to pay to join and participate in the Foundation.  And 100% of the money we raise, every dollar that is donated to our Foundation stays at Austin Elementary to benefit our children.
